Honda just made their official 2017 ATV Model Lineup Announcement this morning on April 18, 2016…

If you follow my blog, you’ve seen these two previous 2017 Honda ATV model announcements:

I’ll be touching base on the key notes in those previous model announcements below as well since I know a lot of you guys don’t want to click on another link to read previous information.

To go ahead and get it out of the way… There’s not any entirely new models from Honda for the 2017 ATV model lineup like many of us had hoped. This announcement for the 2017 four-wheeler lineup only covers updates to the current model lineup with new colors, first model with painted plastics, model variations with select features etc.

Which models get more than a color change for 2017?

  • 2017 Rubicon 500 DCT – New shift maps
  • 2017 Rancher 420 DCT – New shift maps

Which 2017 ATV models get new colors?

  • 2017 Rubicon 500 – Matte Gray Metallic (First Honda ATV with Painted Plastics)
  • 2017 Foreman 500 – Vapor White
  • 2017 Foreman 500 – Active Yellow
  • 2017 Rancher 420 – Shell Blue

Now we’ll get to a breakdown of each of the 2017 Honda ATV models.

Model Key:

  • DCT – Dual Clutch Transmission  (Autimatic)
  • ES – Electric Shift
  • EPS – Electric Power Steering
  • * If DCT or ES aren’t mentioned in the ATV model name, it has the Manual / Foot-Shift Transmission

2017 FourTrax Recon 250

Proving that good things sometimes come in small packages, Honda’s nimble Recon can work circles around many larger utility ATVs. The model’s light weight and small footprint make it easy to maneuver through tight situations, and the longitudinal, 250-class engine still has plenty of power and torque for getting the job done or making it through challenging terrain. Electric start and Rincon-like styling are both standard. The Recon is available in two configurations: one with Electric Shift Program technology (ESP) and one with a manual-shift transmission.

2017 FourTrax Rancher 420

With incredible versatility and value, the Rancher has been a strong performer since its 2000 introduction, helping it to become Honda’s best-selling ATV in Honda’s history. The current version is the best ever, enabling customers to choose between Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) or swingarm, Automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) or standard gearbox, Electric Power Steering (EPS) and standard, and 4×4 or two-wheel drive. No matter what the options, Ranchers are renowned for their durability, and they’re equally capable at the jobsite and on the trail. For 2017, two new colors have been added—Black for the 4×4 Automatic IRS EPS and Shale Blue for the 4×4 Automatic EPS.

2017 FourTrax Foreman 500

The Foreman 500 makes its return for 2017 with some new color options as well as a couple model variations that are being discontinued to simply your options when searching for the perfect Foreman 500 to fit your needs.

2017 FourTrax Rubicon 500

The Rubicon 500 makes its return for 2017 with some new color options as well as a couple model variations that are being discontinued to simply your options when searching for the perfect Foreman 500 to fit your needs.

2017 FourTrax Rincon 680

For customers who prefer larger ATVs, the Rincon is the biggest model in Honda’s lineup, with a powerful 675cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected four-stroke engine and premium long-travel suspension, giving it unmatched comfort and ride quality. Since its 2003 introduction, this top-of-the-line model has been an ATV industry trailblazer, with fully Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), radial tires and an automotive-style, beltless three-speed automatic transmission that can also be shifted manually. For 2017, the Rincon is available in a new Black color option, in addition to Red and Honda Phantom Camo.

Now we start the 2017 Sport ATV Model Lineup…

  • 2017 Honda TRX90X
    • Colors:

Introduced in 1987, the TRX250X remains a big hit with sport riders, who appreciate its wide powerband, high fun factor and legendary Honda reliability. New riders love Honda’s exclusive SportClutch™, which allows them to learn clutch control without having to worry about stalling. At the same time, long-travel suspension mean the TRX250X is appropriate for advanced riders as well. For 2017, the standard white version gets a new silver wheel color.

    • Honda will not be selling a 2017 Foreman ES 500 4×4 (TRX500Fe1 = Foreman 500 Electric Shift ATV)
  • TRX500FM5
    • Honda will not be selling a 2017 Rubicon 500 4×4 (TRX500FM5 = Rubicon 500 Manual / Foot Shift ATV)
  • TRX500FM7
    • Honda will not be selling a 2017 Rubicon Deluxe 500 EPS 4×4(TRX500FM7 = Rubicon 500 Manual / Foot Shift Deluxe with Electric Power Steering ATV)
