– 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000 & 1000-5 Throttle Pedal Safety Recall / Stop Sale –

Honda is launching a safety recall on all 2019 – 2016 Pioneer 1000 and Pioneer 1000-5 models (SXS10M3 / SXS10M5) to replace the throttle pedal assembly. Under certain condition, corrosion may build up within the throttle pedal pivot, which can cause the throttle pedal to become stuck, and not return to the closed position.

Safety Consequence: A throttle pedal that does not return to the closed position could result in a loss of vehicle control.

UPDATE | Pioneer 1000 Recall / Stop Sale:

  • Key Points:
    • Temporary repairs are for customer owned units only (cannot be applied to dealer inventory units). Temporary repairs do not satisfy the recall requirements. Dealer inventory units cannot be sold until the final recall repair has been performed.
    • Remedy parts to fix this issue should be available in about four to eight weeks.
    • Letters to owners should start rolling out in April.
  • What is the problem?
    • Honda has determined that under certain conditions corrosion may build up within the throttle pedal pivot, which can cause the throttle pedal to become stuck, and not return to the closed position. A throttle pedal that does not return to the closed position could result in loss of vehicle control, which may result in an increased risk of a crash and injury.
  • For current Pioneer 1000 owners:
    • What will Honda do?
      • Initially, Honda will provide authorized Honda Pioneer dealers with information on how to inspect and, if necessary, clean and lubricate the throttle pedal pivot. Once remedy parts are available, you will receive a second letter from Honda advising you to make an appointment for final repair, which is to replace the throttle pedal assembly with an improved part. Remedy parts should be available in about four to eight weeks.
    • What should you do?
      • Call any authorized Honda Pioneer dealer and make an appointment to have the throttle pedal pivot inspected and, if necessary, cleaned and lubricated free of charge. Inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating the parts will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please ask your Honda Pioneer dealer for the specific time your vehicle will need to stay at the dealership.

UPDATE #2 | Pioneer 1000 Recall / Stop Sale:
