We all knew the Pioneer 1000 would beat the Pioneer 700 in a race by comparing their horsepower numbers as well as power-to-weight figures. What we didn’t know was by how large of a margin in a drag race. Thanks to Richard at HondaSxS.com we know now thanks to the Pioneer drag race he just setup and posted for all of us to see below…

* Update / New Video Added – 2nd Pioneer 1000 vs 700 race added at the bottom of the page with the 2016 Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe vs Pioneer 700.

Comment at the bottom of the page with what you thought of the Pioneer 1000 vs 700 race and the outcome.

Honda Pioneer 1000 vs 700 Drag Race Video (Thanks to HondaSxS.com)

Race #1 Pioneer Horsepower & Power-to-Weight Ratio comparison numbers:

  • 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 Horsepower 72 HP
  • Pioneer 1000-5 Horsepower to Weight Ratio ( 72 HP / 1,687 lb ) = .043 horsepower per pound
  • Pioneer 1000-5 Top Speed: 67 MPH via Electronic Speed Limiter

VS

  • 2016 Honda Pioneer 700-4 Horsepower 36.4 HP
  • Pioneer 700-4 Horsepower to Weight Ratio ( 36.4 HP / 1,396 lb ) = .026 horsepower per pound 45 MPH via Electronic Speed Limiter
  • Pioneer 700-4 Top Speed: 45 MPH via Electronic Speed Limiter

You can tell the Pioneer 1000 is blowing the tires off and fighting traction due to the wet ground. Even with the Pioneer 700 getting the jump due to traction issues on the 1000, it still sucked the doors off and check out! That’s what almost 40 more horsepower will do when paired up with a 6-speed DCT transmission versus the 3-speed conventional transmission in the 700.

Since the video above shows a Pioneer 1000-5 vs 700-4 race. I wanted to put together a short race of a Pioneer 1000-5 vs 700. Once the Pioneer 1000 (3-seater) arrives next week I’ll put together some more drag race videos and hopefully have a bit longer track too. Until then, this will have to do.

On the Pioneer 1000-5 vs Pioneer 700 race below I hopped in the 700. Casey, one of our techs hopped in the Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe before I could call dibs on it haha. Casey was doing 46 MPH in the 1000 when he took the turn at the end of the run while I was just edging up on 39 MPH when I shut it down in the 700. If we ran them out longer, of course the gap would’ve been larger. When the 1000 picks up speed it is gone and the 700 starts to run out of steam.

Race #2 Pioneer Horsepower & Power-to-Weight Ratio comparison numbers:

  • 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 Horsepower 72 HP
  • Pioneer 1000-5 Horsepower to Weight Ratio ( 72 HP / 1,687 lb ) = .043 horsepower per pound
  • Pioneer 1000-5 Top Speed: 67 MPH via Electronic Speed Limiter

VS

  • 2016 Honda Pioneer 700 Horsepower 36.4 HP
  • Pioneer 700 Horsepower to Weight Ratio ( 36.4 HP / 1,261 lb ) = .029 horsepower per pound
  • Pioneer 700 Top Speed: 45 MPH via Electronic Speed Limiter
