Some may be thinking “Oh great, another Pioneer 1000 post” haha but this has been one of the hottest models to roll off Honda’s production lines in decades. Because of that, tons of people are searching for new information when it comes to parts & accessories to customize their new Pioneer 1000 & 1000-5.
Two of the most asked questions on the Internet lately have been “What’s the largest and or tallest tire that will fit on the 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000 & 1000-5 without a lift kit” and “When will the aftermarket parts companies release a lift kit for the Pioneer 1000 & 1000-5?”.
Pioneer 1000 Arched A-Arms / Control Arms
The largest tire you can squeeze on a Pioneer 1000 without a lift kit is between 29″ and 30″ dependent on how large the lugs are as well as to how true the tires are to size. Many people on some of the Honda Pioneer side by side forums have tried wedging different brands / sizes etc as it’s all trial and error since the 1000 has only been in customers hands for a couple months now. It’s not so much the height where we run into clearance problems but where the tire hits the fender-well. That’s where the upside of forward control arms comes into play as well as being arched.

Pay attention to the above pictures and how they are arched whereas the stock suspension below front and rear for the Pioneer 1000 do not have those arches.

To date, the Pioneer 1000 below has the largest set of tires wedged onto one! The ITP 31″ Outlaw tires on the Pioneer 1000-5 do look awesome! Not to mention this setup bumps the ground clearance for the Pioneer 1000 up to 18 inches! Can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for the Pioneer 1000 as more and more aftermarket companies attack this all new side by side from Honda and bring more parts to market.

I’m very interested how the auto trans is geared for when you put big tires on it. I would love one with 32″ terminators for creek and mud riding.
It gears just fine and runs great i have 32″ tires on mine only problem it rubs a lil bit on the left front driver side.
I got a 2016 honda pioneer 1000-5 with lots of upgrades i put a highlifter lift kit 2″ plus another 2″ lift on top homemade metal plates and 32″ aggressive mud tires and a cd player with 4 speakers and led red neon lights and the rear led whip flag pole and aftermarket snorkel kit and led light bar, and a 4500lbs winch.
The only problem front left driver side tire rubs the plastic a lil bit wen i turn… and idk wat to do to fix the problem i was thinking of putting wheel spacers and lunger studs but cant find none to buy,also was thinking of puting does lower and upper highlifter control arm so it can move my wheels foward about a 1.5″ but idk if that will help?
How has the tranny held up to those tires? I wanna put bigger tires but I’m nervous it won’t hold up
Do you need rear arched a-arms also or will the 31″ tires fit with just the lift and front arms?
Some of the larger tire fitment problems on the Pioneer 1000 boil down to the specific tire themselves even when referring to the same ‘size’ between tires. You should be fine without running arched a-arms on your Pioneer 1000 with 31″ tires and a lift plus arched a-arms as I have yet to see anyone have a problem out back fitment-wise. Which tires are you going with?
