– 2016 Motorcycle Buyers Guide | Cruiser Models Explained / Breakdown –

Honda’s cruiser model lineup of motorcycles keep evolving year after year and for 2016 you have more bikes to choose from than ever that fit into the category dubbed ‘cruisers’. Similar to what I mentioned in the 2016 Adventure Motorcycle Model Lineup Comparison, the cruiser model lineup and what defines a cruiser is more blurred than ever with multiple models not only fitting into the cruiser category but also other ‘categories’ too – What do I mean by that? Well, here’s a quick example: You would expect something along the lines of the Gold Wing F6B to be classified as a Touring model since it is a closely related cousin to the standard model Gold Wing but with chopping the trunk off of it and shaving the windshield down a couple inches and removing reverse helps it slot into the Cruiser category in Honda’s eyes. Thanks to the Cruiser category lines being blurred so much for 2016, you’ll see some models below that will overlap and also fit into other categories but technically this is what Honda slots them into category wise should you browse through Honda’s main website.

Typically, in the past, if a bike was considered a ‘cruiser’ it had a V-Twin Engine. That’s a thing of the past though when it comes to Honda motorcycles as they are always evolving and working on not only better options for us riders but also just something different to choose from. Why make something “different”? It’d be a boring world we live in if we all had the same style motorcycle and thankfully Honda likes to mix things up and bring different engine configurations into the mix. Here are the different engine types you’ll find mixed in with Honda’s cruisers:

  • V-Twin Engine
  • Parallel-Twin Engine
  • Horizontally Opposed Six-Cylinder Engine

While we’re on the topic of engines, here’s a 2016 motorcycle horsepower chart showing all of the cruiser bikes we are talking about today. I also touch base on each of the torque ratings plus MPG, power-to-weight ratios and the MSRP / prices for each.

* Models in RED are clickable links for more detailed specs on the model, pictures, videos etc.

When browsing the 2016 models below you’ll find that some of them aren’t available as a 2016 model. Sometimes Honda will skip a production year on select models if they have enough of the previous model year to carry through the following year and then kick up production again the following year. Example, Honda didn’t make a 2016 Grom as they had enough 2015 Grom’s in the warehouse to carry through until this month when they just made the announcement for the 2017 Grom. So… Why am I including them in this 2016 motorcycle lineup overview? Since they are so recently discontinued and not in production, you’ll find that many dealers still have them as new but leftover 2013, 2014 etc models.

Honda Rebel / 250cc (CMX250C)

2016 Honda Rebel 250 Review / Specs - Cruiser / Motorcycle CMX250C 250cc

For over 25 years now, the Rebel has remained a favorite among entry-level street riders—and for good reason. Its cruiser style & looks maintain an enduring appeal, it’s comfortable, light in weight and easy to maneuver with a low seat-height, and its durability has grown to legendary proportions. Whether you’re running errands around town or heading out of town for a riding adventure, the tough Rebel serves as a great riding partner.

It’s hard to find a motorcycle that is any easier to ride than the Rebel. That’s why you’ll find the 250 Rebel at home around the country in many MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) classes. It’s not only a cheap alternative to many other bikes but it’s also cheap to replace parts should the inevitable happen and she hits the ground a time or two. Pair all of this up with the features and specs below and you’ll see why the Rebel is still in production after all these decades.

Honda Shadow Spirit / 750cc (VT750C2)

Honda Shadow Spirit 750 Review / Specs VT750C2 Cruiser Motorcycle

Here’s a machine that’s perfect for cruising city streets as well as exploring back-country roads—the Shadow Spirit 750 C2. Honda has brought together a big-bike look, distinctive street-rod styling and a muscular V-twin engine—now including the sophistication and metering precision of Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI). And it all comes wrapped up in a surprisingly affordable package.

The VT750C2 version of the Spirit replaced the VT750DC back in 2007 halfway through the production year which is why you’ll find both versions listed in 2007 but that was the final year for the DC. The newer version offered you shaft-drive instead of the now ancient chain-drive system when it comes to cruiser motorcycles. It also brought a few other changes to the 750 Spirit like a larger 19″ front wheel and many other small aesthetic changes to bring the Shadow Spirit into the 21st century. The Spirit has remain unchanged since 2007 except for the welcome addition of fuel injection in 2012 to better help the overall fuel-efficiency of the 750cc engine.

With an incredibly low seat height and curb weight that barely tips the scales at 500 lbs you’ll have a difficult time finding a bike that’s any easier to ride in the cruiser model lineup. That goes for all of the Shadow 750 lineup including the Spirit, Aero and Phantom as they are all cousins and share the same backbone.

Sadly, there isn’t a 2016 Shadow Spirit 750 but due to leftover inventory at motorcycle dealers you’ll have great odds at still being able to find a bargain on one. That’s why I’m still including the Spirit in this 2016 model lineup review.

Shadow Spirit Engine / Drivetrain

  • 745cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine produces impressive power over a broad rpm range.
  • Crankshaft features long-stroke design along with high-mass ACG to produce strong V-twin feel and low-rpm torque peak.
  • Three-Valve Dual-Plug Combustion Chamber.
  • Finned cylinders enhance appearance and give a big-bike look.
  • Aluminum radiator maintains consistent engine temperature for optimum performance and long engine life. Mounted between frame rails for enhanced appearance.
  • Wide-ratio five-speed transmission.
  • Sleek 2-into-2 exhaust system features bullet-style mufflers for a classic street-rod look.

Shadow Spirit Chassis / Suspension

  • Innovative frame design features large, steel-tube backbone reaching back from steering head to rear of the engine case for simplicity and strength.
  • Sturdy and responsive 41mm front fork delivers confident, neutral handling and plush 4.6-inch wheel travel.
  • Dual-shock rear suspension features five-position spring preload adjustability and eye-catching chrome covers, while offering 3.5 inches of wheel travel for a smooth ride.
  • Single front disc brake with twin-piston caliper grips a 296mm drilled rotor between sintered metal pads. Rear brake is drum type.
  • Shaft final-drive system provides smooth and reliable low-maintenance operation.

Aditional Spirit Features

  • Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) for good throttle response and fuel efficiency.
  • A 21-inch front wheel for a narrow, custom look and light steering feel.
  • Incredibly low 25.8-inch seat height.
  • Big-bike looks and feel at a very attractive price.
  • Chrome highlights include cylinder-head cover, air-cleaner cover, left and right engine sidecovers, brake and clutch lever brackets, rear brake pedal, shift lever, swingarm pivot cap, ignition switch cover, handlebar, rear shock covers and headlight.
  • Handlebar design offers sporty, street-rod feel.
  • Tank-mounted speedometer features attractive chrome instrument housing.
  • Sleek, one-piece gunfighter-type seat.
  • Custom, integrated taillight design.
  • Stylish 3.7-gallon fuel tank.
  • Steering-head lock and helmet lock for added security when parked.
  • Transferable one-year, unlimited-mileage limited warranty; extended coverage available with a Honda Protection Plan.

Honda Shadow Phantom / 750cc (VT750C2B)

2016 Honda Shadow Phantom 750 Review / Specs - Automatic Motorcycle MPG / Price

The Shadow Phantom was introduced back in 2010. The Phantom 750 takes what was cool about the Spirit and delivers on a minimalist concept with a uniquely clean and uncluttered look accented by an extensive blackout treatment, bringing motorcyclists back to the core essence of cool. Don’t care for loads of chrome like that of a typical cruiser? Then the Phantom is the bike for you! Thankfully Honda understood that not everyone is into the whole ‘bling bling look’ and brought the Phantom to market without the typical chrome covered pieces from head to toe and instead finished those pieces in a matte black finish with only a simple touch of chrome here and there to mix it up. They also took the larger 19″ wheel from the Spirit and shrunk it back down to 17″ while throwing a wider tire on there to finish the ‘look’ off. The handlebars were also changed up from the Spirit to give it more of a sportier look thanks to the drag style bars.

With a torquey 745cc V-twin engine featuring the convenience of sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection, the Shadow Phantom brings the joy of back-to-basics riding within reach of just about every rider with its affordable price / MSRP. Pair all of the features mentioned above and below up and you’ll see why the Shadow Phantom is here to stay for many more years after 2016.

  • Minimalist front fender.
  • New handlebar shape enhances bobber styling.

  • New spoked black wheels and hubs feature a 120/90-17 front tire and 160/80-15 rear tire to complete the overall custom look.

Honda Shadow Aero / 750cc (VT750C)

2016 Honda Shadow Aero 750 Review / Specs - Cruiser / Motorcycle VT750C

As a proven favorite, the Shadow Aero 750 is the oldest kid on the block when it comes to the Shadow 750 model lineup as it was introduced back in 2004. The Shadow line of cruisers are some of the most popular bikes on the road, and one look at the Shadow Aero will tell you why. Factor in the Shadow Aero’s classic retro styling with full and long fenders, chromed mufflers and a low seat height, modern performance courtesy of this bike’s 745cc V-twin engine, specially tuned for low-revving torque with sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection and fine handling—all at a price that’s just right for today’s budgets—and that’s why the Aero has been around for more than a decade and won’t be going anywhere soon! Speaking of the Aero’s engine, the Aero features a custom two-into-two exhaust system, flowing into bullet-style mufflers. The result is a very deep and throaty sound that’s classic V-twin cruiser, making the Aero a bike that sounds as good as it looks. Some people will want it to have a little more bark and in those cases you have many and I mean many aftermarket exhaust options out their for the entire Shadow 750 model lineup.

We also can’t forget maintenance-reducing features like shaft final drive make the Aero easy to own and actually any newer 750 Shadow for that matter as they all have the same shaft drive setup (except 750 RS). Cruisers should be about getting out and having fun, not about maintenance headaches. That’s why the Aero’s shaft final drive makes so much sense. Clean, virtually maintenance-free and efficient, it’s the smart choice.

Shadow Aero Features

  • Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) for good throttle response and fuel efficiency.
  • Chrome highlights include cylinder-head cover, air-cleaner cover, left and right engine sidecovers, brake and clutch lever brackets, rear brake pedal, shift lever, swingarm pivot cap, ignition switch cover, handlebar, rear shock covers and headlight.

Honda Shadow RS / 750cc (VT750RS)

Honda Shadow RS Review / Specs VT750RS Cruiser Motorcycle

The Honda Shadow 750 RS was first introduced in 2010 and lived a fairly short lifetime in Honda’s 750cc cruiser motorcycle model lineup as 2013 was the last year since Honda decided to discontinue the Shadow RS. Why am I talking about the Shadow RS model in a 2016 blog post covering all of these models? Because some dealers are still sitting on new leftover 2013 models, so I figured I would throw them into the mix with the others. Honda wanted to try the “sportster” look on their venture with the RS while throwing a little “old-school” in the mix too with going back to a chain-drive bike instead of the shaft drive outfitted on all of the other 750 Shadow models. By combining agile and responsive handling, V-twin power, clean, crisp lines and standard-style riding ergonomics, this is one ready and willing bike that’s perfectly poised for whatever the journey may bring. The Shadow RS’s higher footpegs enhance ground clearance, and its thoroughly modern liquid-cooled 745cc V-twin engine boasts Honda’s sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection to enhance your riding pleasure. Climb aboard the Honda Shadow RS, and the open road is all yours.

Shadow RS Features

  • Classic roadster tank shape and seat are inspired by the world of flat-track racing.
  • A torquey 745cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine pumps out a strong spread of power over a broad rpm range.
  • Minimalist front fender.
  • Handlebar shape enhances classic styling.
  • Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) incorporates a single 34mm-diameter throttle body.
  • Lightweight chain final-drive system continues classic styling theme.
  • Spoke wheels feature a 100/90-19 front tire and a 150/80-16 rear tire to complete the overall classic look.
  • Transferable one-year unlimited-mileage limited warranty; extended coverage available with a Honda Protection Plan.

  • Three-Valve Dual-Plug Combustion Chamber.

Honda NM4 / 700cc (NC700JD) – Automatic Motorcycle

2016 Honda NM4 Vultus DCT Review / Specs - Automatic Motorcycle MPG / Price

The NM4 was originally released in 2015 and thankfully carried over to 2016 as well. You won’t see a lot of these around though as Honda classifies them as “Limited Production” so finding one can be a difficult task at times. If you’ve ever wanted to look  like you could transport yourself into the future, this is your motorcycle. Ever wanted all of the eyes on you when you roll down the road on your bike and for everybody to come up and ask you what you’re riding? If so, this is your motorcycle! Even though its model name is the NM4 (Vultus other parts of the world), it’s been dubbed the “Bat-Mobile” thanks to its crazy styling. By design, the NM4 shakes up the status quo and explodes conventional barriers in order to attract a whole new segment of forward-thinking riders to motorcycling. Beneath its futuristic and rather odd bodywork there’s a 670cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with four valves per cylinder, automatic dual-clutch transmission and ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes). Storage pockets in the fairing plus saddlebags add real-world utility, and the rear turn signals are neatly integrated into the rear bags. The rider settles easily onto a comfy seat that’s perched a low, 25.6 inches off the ground, and there’s also a cool and practical rider backrest feature—the passenger seat flips up and can be set at three different angles and slides fore and aft to one of four positions. Full LED lighting lets the NM4 stand out whether it’s coming or going, the fat, 200mm rear tire gives it a real aggressive “look” and overall stance from the rear, and the gauges / meter display can be illuminated in any of 25 different color choices which is a pretty cool feature not found on any other motorcycle in Honda’s entire model lineup.

NM4 Features

  • Neo-futuristic styling highlights Honda’s capabilities for innovation.
  • High-tech meter display can be set to any of 25 different colors. Stock settings alter by drive mode: white for Neutral; blue for D; pink for S; red for MT.
  • Rider floorboards for added comfort.
  • Full LED lighting for the headlight, taillight and turn signals give bright illumination and a distinctive appearance with reduced power draw.
  • Convertible passenger seat flips up to provide a backrest for the rider; three-way adjustable for lean angle, four-way adjustable for fore-and-aft positioning.
  • Integrated storage includes two saddlebags plus two storage pockets in the upper cowl.
  • Transferable one-year, unlimited-mileage limited warranty; extended coverage available with a Honda Protection Plan.

NM4 Engine / Drivetrain

  • Sophisticated, liquid-cooled SOHC eight-valve 670cc parallel-twin engine pumps out abundant torque for a linear and smooth power delivery.
  • Remarkably low seat height of 25.6 inches along with the 62-degree forward angle of the cylinder assembly help create a very low center of gravity, making the NM4 feel distinctly nimble and fun to ride.
  • Second-generation Automatic six-speed Honda Dual Clutch Transmission uses two hydraulically controlled clutches to deliver quick and smooth gear changes in a choice of three modes: Manual (MT), which allows the rider to shift gears using buttons, and two automatic (AT) modes—S for sportier riding and D for everyday use.
  • Twin engine balancer shafts quell vibration for smooth, comfortable operation, and rubber-mounted floorboards also add to rider comfort.
  • Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) continuously monitors numerous variables to ensure the correct fuel mixture for existing riding and atmospheric conditions, thereby delivering optimal performance and crisp throttle response over a wide range of operating conditions.

NM4 Chassis / Suspension

  • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) provides full Anti-Lock functionality for secure braking action.
  • Large 18-inch front wheel and fat rear wheel with 200mm tire lend a distinctive look.

NM4 Honda Genuine Accessories

  • Passenger Backrest, Rear Seat Cowl, Tall Windscreen, Heated Grips

Honda CTX700N / 700cc – Optional Automatic Motorcycle / Transmission

2016 Honda CTX700N DCT Review / Specs - Automatic Motorcycle MPG / Price

The CTX700N was originally released in 2014 and is one of (2) different CTX 700 models as an all-new model that stole the engine out of the NC700X but went towards another type of customer than the NC models. This is a bike specifically engineered to make motorcycling more approachable, affordable and fun than ever before. The CTX700N model has (2) different transmission options to choose from, for those of you that want a standard manual-transmission get to have your pick and then those that want an automatic motorcycle get a chance at owning a cool bike that doesn’t have the typical “scooter” style that some don’t care for. Thanks to a low seat height of only 28.3 inches, riders can quickly get acclimated to life in the saddle. Honda’s acclaimed automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) provides either a fully automatic mode or the option of more active gear selection via “paddle-shift” type buttons on the handlebar, and the DCT version also comes with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). The 670cc parallel-twin engine features cylinders canted 62 degrees forward for enhanced weight distribution and a lower center of gravity for ease of handling. This smooth-running fuel-injected engine pumps out loads of low-end and midrange torque to simplify launching from stops even with the optional six-speed manual gearbox, and there’s enough power on tap for wherever the road may lead. Beneath the fuel tank cover there’s a handy glove box area, and the fuel is carried below. All in all, the CTX700N is an amazingly affordable, fun, friendly and comfortable bike that is perfect for everyday rides, weekend trips, two-up exploring or just about anything else you can dream up.

Do you like the CTX700N but want a little more wind protection? Check out the CTX700 which is the exact same machine but with a small fairing and windshield up front for better wind protection.

Two CTX700N Model Options:

  • CTX700N with standard clutch and 6-speed manual transmission
    • CTX700ND with DCT/ABS features a second-generation automatic six-speed Honda Dual Clutch Transmission that uses two hydraulically controlled clutches to deliver quick and smooth gear changes in a choice of three modes: Manual (MT), which allows the rider to shift gears using buttons, and two automatic (AT) modes—S for sport riding and D for everyday use. DCT model also features an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) to provide full Anti-Lock functionality for secure braking action.
  • CTX700N DCT Automatic with ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes)

Honda Sabre / 1300cc (VT1300CS)

2016 Honda Sabre 1300 Review / Specs - Cruiser / Motorcycle VT1300

The Honda Sabre 1300 cruiser was released in 2010 as one of the (3) models to replace the (3) VTX1300 models being discontinued in 2009. Honda Fury / 1300

2016 Honda Fury 1300 Review, Specs, Horsepower, Prices

Say hello to the wildest cruiser that Honda has ever built, the Fury 1300 chopper. It was originally introduced to the model lineup in 2010 following the discontinuation of the VTX1300 model lineup in 2009. Technically, the Fury wasn’t a replacement for any of the VTX models as none of them really had that “chopper” styling. The Honda Fury (VT13CX / VT1300CX) is a true original – a chopper that’s visually daring and great fun to ride; yet with the same functionality, quality and reliability you would expect from any Honda. Its raked-out styling, based round a high-mount steering head, long, slim fuel tank and ultra-low seat grabs attention from every angle. Clean lines and curves and an extreme attention to detail create a chopper with the distinct air of a full-on hand-built custom bike, but one that can be owned and maintained for a fraction of the cost.

The heart and soul of the Fury is its 1312cc liquid-cooled 52-degree V-twin engine. It features a single-pin crankshaft, dual balancers and a Programmed Fuel Injection system. It produces satisfying performance and a truly impressive V-twin sound and feel. Fuel consumption is low and, with a clean, reliable, maintenance-free shaft drive, owners can be sure of spending more time on the road and less in the garage.

By looking at the Fury, you would think it isn’t a bike that would handle that well and or be a fun and enjoyable bike to ride but that couldn’t be further from the truth… Even though it’s stretched out and raked out to give it that chopper styling that so many love, it is a blast to ride and quite surprisingly easy to ride too adding in the fact that it is Honda’s lightest 1300cc cruiser coming in at only 663  lbs full of gas and ready to ride. A single, powerful 336mm front disc brake is complemented by a 296mm disc brake at the back, providing smooth, powerful braking. An advanced Combined Antilock Brake System is also available as an option, providing the ultimate in stopping confidence. Comfort is also far beyond the norm for a chopper. The lines of what looks like a rigid hard-tail rear end are deceptively sleek, concealing an ingenious rear suspension system with adjustable rebound damping and 35-position spring preload adjustment. The exhaust emits just enough noise to let you know you’re not riding one of Honda’s “normal” cruisers as it has a little more bite to its bark with a rumble that isn’t too overpowering – just enough to where it’s not obnoxious when you’re just cruising around town without wanting to bring too much attention your way. The Fury offers an overall experience that can be lacking when it comes to most modern-day cruiser style motorcycles. All in all, the Fury is hard to beat if you’re into this style of motorcycle. Why? You get the best of both worlds with the custom chopper “look” but it is backed up with the same fit and finish, functionality, affordability, quality and reliability that’s built into every Honda.

Fury Features

  • High-mount steering head complements the raked-out front end.
  • “Hard-tail” styling.
  • Long, slim 3.4 gallon seamless fuel tank mounts high on the frame for a true custom look.
  • Slim radiator is mounted unobtrusively to accent the Fury’s clean lines.
  • Color-matched bodywork, frame and swingarm. (Matte Silver has a Black frame.)
  • Minimalist front and rear fenders complement the Fury’s chopper styling.
  • Control lines and cables are specially routed for a clean, custom look.
  • New low-maintenance slim-profile driveshaft provides smooth operation with no need for chain or belt guards and covers.
  • Integrated handlebar-mounted chrome housing features a speedometer, an odometer/A&B tripmeter and indicator lights for the turn signals, high beam, neutral, oil pressure, coolant temperature and clock.
  • Electric speedometer with easy-to-read numerals uses an electronic transmission speed sensor, which eliminates the front-wheel-mounted speedometer cable. This contributes to a clean, uncluttered look.
  • Passenger seat and rear passenger pegs are easily removed to yield a clean, solo look.
  • Maintenance-free battery.
  • Transferable one-year unlimited-mileage limited warranty; extended coverage available with a Honda Protection Plan.

Honda Stateline / 1300cc (VT1300CR)

2016 Honda Stateline 1300 Review / Specs - Cruiser Motorcycle / Bike 1300cc - VT1300 / VT13CR

Now, we’re to another model that’s part of the 1300cc cruiser model lineup from Honda – The Stateline. The Stateline 1300 cruiser was released in 2010 as one of the (3) models to replace the (3) VTX1300 models being discontinued in 2009 similar to that of the Sabre that I mentioned above. The Stateline features long, low lines with large fenders and swept-back bars made it the specific model replacement for the VTX1300R model. The Stateline embody’s what cruising is all about, it blends two worlds of motorcycling style: traditional looks plus progressive elements. The deeply valanced fenders arc downward in classic retro style, yet the rolling chassis and overall lines bring a fresh look to the class. Another nice styling point is the tank-mounted speedometer, nestled inside a gorgeous, specially designed chrome housing.

With its fuel-injected 1312cc V-twin engine and three valves per cylinder it packs a good punch with plenty of torque that will try to pry you off the seat at low rpm’s. It’s shaft final drive means you don’t have to worry about the added maintenance of chain and sprockets or messing around with belts. The Stateline also features a 336mm front and a 296mm rear-disc brake and the option of Honda’s Anti-Lock Brake System for that added safety-net should you get into a sticky situation as you never know what the road can throw at you.

Around town and on the road, the relaxed, stretched-out cruiser style is not only comfortable, but it makes sense too. I’ll have to admit the super-wide and swept-back handlebars do take a couple miles to get used to but after you’ve logged a few miles under your belt on the Stateline you’ll find that it is hard to beat on the comfort side of things. I wish Honda would have kept the floor-boards like they had on the VTX1300R and used them on the Stateline for that added comfort that’s always nice on a cruiser but thanks to all of the aftermarket parts available today – finding floorboards for a Stateline is an easy task. If you want to stick with OEM Honda Accessories, Honda has you covered there as they do make floorboards for this model that they use on the Interstate which is the same model as the Stateline but with a few touring accessories.

Stateline Features

  • – Progressive retro styling with a raked-out front end.
  • – Stylized curved downtubes create a unique custom look.
  • – Blacked-out engine.

Honda Interstate / 1300cc (VT1300CT)

2016 Honda Interstate 1300 Review / Specs - Touring, Bagger Cruiser Motorcycle 1300 cc V-Twin Bike

Next up, we are moving on to the final model that’s part of the 1300cc cruiser model lineup from Honda – The Interstate. The Honda Interstate 1300 cruiser was released in 2010 as one of the (3) models to replace the (3) VTX1300 models being discontinued in 2009 similar to that of the Sabre and Stateline models that I mentioned above. The Interstate replaced the VTX1300T from the generation of 1300cc models before 2010. You may be asking yourself, doesn’t the Interstate look awfully similar to the Stateline? Good attention to detail! The Interstate is nothing more than the Stateline from Honda but with a few of their Honda Genuine Accessories that include: Windshield, Saddlebags and Floorboards. Those added accessories turn the Interstate into more of a touring motorcycle than the standard Stateline. The hard leather bags offer ample storage space and that big, traditional windscreen; we’re talking all-day riding comfort and convenience that will help keep the wind from beating on your upper-body too terribly bad on those long rides.

The Interstate’s 1312cc 52º V-twin engine generates plenty of low-end torque for relaxed urban rides, but is big enough for multi-day trips on long highways or over mountain passes. Shaft final drive gives you a clean, crisp look on the street, but its maintenance reducing features are exactly what you want a thousand miles from home too.

Interstate Features

  • Stylish custom windscreen for rider and passenger touring comfort.
  • Exclusive leather-wrapped hard saddlebags are seamlessly integrated into the stylish progressive design. Unique new hidden latch system furthers the uncluttered look.
  • Floorboards enhance the retro look while providing all-day touring comfort.
  • Stylish fork covers.
  • Progressive retro styling with a raked-out front end.
  • Stylized, curved downtubes creates a unique custom look.
  • Blacked-out engine.
  • New-style wheels.
  • Specially designed tank-mounted chrome housing features a speedometer, odometer/A&B tripmeter and indicator lights for turn signals, high beam, neutral, oil pressure, coolant temperature and clock.
  • Wide retro-styled pull-back handlebar offers all-day comfort.
  • Deep, long, flowing fenders for a classic look.
  • One-piece seat design enhances the classic flowing lines.

Honda F6B & F6B Deluxe / 1800cc (GL1800B / GL1800BD)

2016 Honda F6B Deluxe Review / Specs - GL1800 Touring Motorcycle / Bike

The Honda Gold Wing F6B is a fairly newcomer to the model lineup with it being added in 2013 but it isn’t a freshman around here as it’s backbone has been around since 2001 when Honda introduced the all-new GL1800 Gold Wing. The F6B straddles that fine-line between what a cruiser style motorcycle is as well as a touring / bagger bike. The F6B incorporates all of the basic engine and chassis advantages found in the standard Gold Wing GL1800, plus a number of benefits all its own. Weighing in a full 62 pounds lighter than the full-dress Gold Wing, the F6B delivers a new level of nimbleness and maneuverability for superior handling and agile manners. The stout twin-spar aluminum frame remains remarkably advanced and sophisticated for bikes in this class, and it features a beefy 45mm fork with a cartridge damper plus a sophisticated anti-dive system to yield 4.8 inches of plush yet well-controlled travel. In back there’s a single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm setup, and the rear Pro-Link single-shock suspension system has a new shock with valving specifically tuned to the F6B. A dial-type remote adjuster offers easy access for quick adjustments to rear shock spring preload. Dual full-floating 296mm rotors and three-piston calipers up front plus the rear 316mm disc deliver stellar braking power and terrific feel; Honda’s Combined Braking System links the front and rear brakes.

The powerful 1832cc liquid-cooled six-cylinder engine is literally in a class of its own, having firmly established a well-deserved reputation for exhilarating acceleration, super-strong roll-on power, smooth operation and utmost reliability. The unique, horizontally opposed six-cylinder layout also contributes to an exceptionally low center of gravity to foster improved handling. The Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system carries over from the Gold Wing, and this system too is a model of refined performance under just about every street-riding situation imaginable via its two 40mm throttle bodies and six high-pressure fuel injectors. Likewise, the five-speed gearbox, clutch and shaft final drive have all been thoroughly proven over more than a decade and millions of miles of real-world GL1800 use.

That all-new seat not only gives the F6B a unique look, it also gives the rider and passenger a different, more open feel from the saddle along with plenty of comfort. A premium-quality audio system comes standard on the F6B, and it offers direct MP3/iPod connectivity. The lockable and waterproof large-capacity saddlebags provide over 150 liters of storage providing flexibility for whatever the day’s ride calls for, and a large, centrally located glovebox is both handy and easy to use for storage of smaller items.

For 2015, Honda made logging miles even easier aboard the F6B with the addition of cruise control and also adds more aggressive styling with the addition of a black exhaust.  The F6B is one of those bikes you have to ride to truly appreciate the engineering feat that Honda went through to make a bike this big with an engine larger than most cars handle as well as it does. Once you experience how smooth the engine in the F6B is while your humming down the highway, you won’t be able to go back to a standard v-twin cruiser. I’ll put money on that…
